406,712. Spindle driving arrangements for yarn-winding machines. WILDT & CO., Ltd., COLEY, J., and LEEDHAM, L. H., Adelaide Works, Leicester. Sept. 2, 1932, No. 24563. [Class 120 (ii).] In a yarn-winding machine having a bobbinspindle driven by a power-shaft through a slipping-clutch and a positive clutch, clutchoperating means acting positively are so arranged that sufficient pressure is first applied to actuate the slipping-clutch and thereafter to engage the positive clutch when starting-up, and to release the positive clutch and thereafter release the actuating pressure from the slipping- clutch when stopping. A power-shaft 1 drives, by friction or otherwise, a disc 3, which is provided with teeth 11, forming with teeth 112 on a cover 12 the positive clutch, and with a boss 5 carrying friction discs 6, 7, 8, forming the slipping-clutch. A cup 9, splined to the cover 12, is pressed by a spring 10 against the friction discs. The cover 12 constitutes the clutchoperating means and is connected through detents 15, 16 to a collar fast on the spindle, and operated by a part 20, actuated by a handle 28 and suitable gearing.
