Abstract

406,391. Valves. READ, F., 10, Upper Drayton Place, Croydon. Sept. 19, 1932, No. 26043. [Class 135.] A tap or cock for domestic water and like supply comprises a body a having an inlet a<1> to be connected to the main and an outlet a<4>, and an external housing f<1> containing a slidable control member h provided with a curved or inclined surface h<3> on which the valve c<1> bears either directly or through a stirrup-like member m<1>, the control member h bearing on the wall of the housing f<1> remote from the valve. As shown, pressure on the knob h<1> closes the valve, but the cam h<3> may be arranged to act reversely. The housing f<1> with slide-member h is adjustable to any position in a horizontal plane, being fixed by a screwed ring d. In a modification the water is admitted to the upper part of the body and the control member is arranged underneath in a housing integral with the valve body. The cam surface may be notched for quarter, half, and three-quarter supply.
