[Class 135.] A multiple-way lift valve 1, 1a, 2, 3, Fig. 1, for use in the supply of fluid pressure to the piston and cylinder mechanism 16, 12 operating an ironing-press is controlled by two levers 19, Fig. 2, pivoted at 22, which require simultaneous and sustained operation by both hands of the operator until the press is initially closed. A bridge 18 is pivoted at 21 to each lever and is provided with a roller 25 which bears on the end of a valve spindle 1, Fig. 1. The spindle carries a piston 4 and inlet and exhaust valve members 2, 3 and works in a casing 5 formed with a fluid pressure inlet port 7, exhaust port 9, port 11 communicating with a port 17 in the cylinder 12 which becomes uncovered as the piston 16 descends, a port 14 which communicates with the cylinder 12 above the piston 16, and a passage 13 between the two portions 6, 8 of the casing 5. Fluid pressure in the chamber 6 aided by a spring 15 connected to a release lever 26 coupled to the spindle 1 keeps the valve 2 normally closed and valve 3 open. These valves must be kept open and closed respectively until fluid-pressure from the cylinder 12 acts behind the piston 4. The cylinder is exhausted by swinging counterclockwise about its pivot 27 a trigger 26 which engages the valve spindle.
