Abstract

853,410. Valves. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. Jan. 17, 1957 [Jan. 17, 1956], No. 1834/57. Class 135. An hydraulic pit prop 1, 2 has a release valve 5 and a smaller auxiliary valve 6 for equalization of pressure on the two sides of the release valve, the auxiliary valve actuating stem 7 having a piston 8 with a pressure surface in a separate chamber 9 and of smaller area than the pressure surface of the auxiliary valve exposed to pressure in the main prop chamber 11, the chamber 9 communicating with the main pressure chamber via stem passage 10. On opening the substantially balanced valve 6 to admit main chamber pressure behind or above the valve 5, the latter is then opened by further displacement of stem 7.
