Abstract

402,075. Dust separators. RYDER, P. G., Beechcroft, Molyneux Park, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. May 18, 1932, No. 14083. [Class 8 (ii).] Dust is separated from gas by passage through a conduit containing plates formed with tongues &c. 7, Fig. 4, and lips or troughs 9 projecting into the air flow. The plates are arranged to form parallel vertical sinuous passages. They are secured, e.g. by welding in notched top and bottom cross-bars 11, Fig. 2. Dust is shaken from them by camactuated hammers 13 carried by spring-loaded shafts. The dust falls into a lower partitioned hopper from which it is removed by a screw conveyer. The gas may be heated or cooled by fluid circulated in spaces 22, Fig. 5, between pairs of plates. The apparatus may be electrically insulated.
