Abstract
401,813. Loading vehicles. SIMPSON, A. M., Whitecross Farm, East Kilbride, Lanarkshire. July 15, 1932, No. 20031. [Class 78 (iv).] Animal-carrying vehicles of the kind provided with a rear door which may serve as a ramp are provided with a flooring the whole or back of which is mounted at its forward end so as to be tiltable downwardly from its forward end and the rear door is pivoted at its foot to the flooring. As shown in Fig. 1 the rear part C of the floor is tiltable about an axis 2 and is hinged at its rear end to a door D which is adapted to be lowered to form a ramp in continuation of the part C. Levers 4 secured to the part C extend forwardly and are operated by a screw &c. mechanism 5 for operating the part C when loaded. Fig. 4 shows a doubledeck vehicle the upper floor E being lowered for loading &c. purposes and comprises a rear portion C<1> and door D<1> which when loaded may be placed in normal closed position and raised by cables &c. 14 after which the lower floor C and door D may be operated for loading the lower floor. Canvas or other flexible sides 16 Fig. 5 may be provided and the floor or the ramp &c. may be covered by matting.
