Abstract
401,746. Differential gearing. BAUGHAN, H. P., Lower Street, Stroud, Gloucestershire. March 1, 1933, No. 6237/32. [Class 80 (ii).] A motor-vehicle differential mechanism comprises forward and reverse driving rollers 42, 43 or wedges arranged in pairs between shafthubs 38 and cam surfaces 39 in a driving wormwheel 37, and a floating-member 40 having axial projections 41, which, by their abutment against the driving rollers of one set prevent engagement of the reverse rollers of the other set when the driven member of the latter set is overrunning as, for instance, when the vehicle is on a bend. Parts 45 of the floating-member project between individual rollers of each pair and carry springs 44 to press the said rollers apart.
