Abstract

399,452. Eyepieces. ZEISS, C., [Firm of], Carl-Zeiss-Strasse, Jena, Germany. June 19, 1933, No. 17386. Convention date, June 22, 1932. [Class 97 (i).] In a converging achromatic eyepiece for a prismatic telescope, one of the lens surfaces is made of non-spherical form such that the marginal thickness of the lens is increased by at least 1/30 of the lens diameter, compared to the thickness of a lens having a spherical surface which touches, and has the same vertex curvature as, the said non-spherical surface. As shown the eyepiece system consists of two components and the front surface of the rear component is of paraboloidal form. A spherical surface having a curvature equal to the vertex curvature of the paraboloid is shown in dotted lines. Constructional data are given.
