[Class 112.] A presser foot for sewing-machines has three spring-depressed work-engaging tread-members supported for relative movements to permit passage of uneven work and compensating means for keeping the pressure distribution of the members even. The presser is carried by a sleeve 14 on spring depressed presser-bar. The sleeve 14 has a bracket 16 to provide a ledge 17. A flat spring plate having three spring tongues 19, 20, 21 is secured in the ledge 17, the middle tongue being slightly shorter than the others. A lug 23 is secured under the free end of the tongue 19. This lug is carried by a tread member 24 which is opposed to one of the feed dog members 11 entirely on one side of the line of seam formation. Adjacent to the member 24 is a shorter chaining-off member 25 with a spacing lug 26. This is secured to the tongue 20. This member is opposed to the dogs 12 behind the needle. The tongue 21 has a spacing lug 29 secured thereto carrying a tread member 30 opposed to the other feed dog 11. This tread member has a cut-away part 32 for the needle and, in the form illustrated, piercer. The tread members, supported by the spring tongues, have independent universal yielding and rocking movements to accommodate varying thicknesses of work. A compensating member 33 is provided for distributing the downward pressure of the presser bar over the tread members.
