Abstract

291,993. Armstrong, J. J. V., (Union Special Machine Co.). Aug. 27, 1927. Presser-feet.-A presser-foot is formed with a channel for receiving and guiding folded fabric sections for felling, and fingers are arranged in the channel for engaging and holding the thread loops during chaining off. The application to a machine having two needles 17 and two loopers l is described. The presser-foot 4 is pivoted at 5 to a block 8 which is secured to the presser-bar 2. Arranged within a channel 10 in the foot 4, and pivoted to it at 24 are two fingers 18, 19 which are acted on by adjustable springs 26. The fingers bear normally with the presser-foot upon the work, but when no work is present they press the enchained loops S against a part 38 of the throat plate. The ends of the fingers are cut away at 29 for the passage of the needles. A cross member 9 on the presser-foot limits its movement.
