Abstract
396,998. Discharge apparatus. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 147, Queen Victoria Street, London.-(Assignees of Giard, E. A. ; N. 12th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A.) Dec. 16, 1932, No. 35694. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] In a,discharge tube containing gas or mercury vapour, the control electrode is divided into two compartments connected through a small opening, the cathode and anode being arranged one in each compartment. As shown, the control electrode, consisting of a cylinder 3 forming part of the container, has a metal partition 10 with a small opening 11, a helical cathode 1 and an anode 5 being arranged axially with the opening 11. The anode consists of a cylinder joined to the electrode 3 by a seal 6, and extending outwards to form a conduit for the evacuation of the device, the end being closed by a seal 7 or by welding: The arrangement prevents the passage into the anode compartment of cathode material, and secondary electrons emitted from the grid.
