Abstract

396,565. Feeding-devices for granular material. THOMAS, A. G., 64, The Parade, Leamington Spa. Sept. 2, 1932, No. 24490. [Class 59.] A feeding-hopper 15 forming the outlet from a storage bin 12 is provided with an outlet valve 26 delivering to a chamber A formed by a pivoted shoot 23 which is normally held in the raised position, as by springs 24, closing against a fixed partition 25. The shoot may receive material past the valve 26 whilst raised or whilst lowered to the discharging position. The valve 26 is pivoted at 27 to a part 28 pivoted on the casing at 29. The valve is guided by the wall 19 of the hopper outlet 17 and by a support 30, and is pressed towards the closing position by springs 31 connected to the part 28. An operating handle 32 is pivoted to the shoot at 33 and is connected with the part 28 by a link 34, so that the valve 26 can be opened or moved to and fro while the shoot is closed and the shoot can then be lowered to deliver the material trapped in the chamber A, or the valve and the shoot can be moved to permit continuous delivery from the hopper. The wall 19 of the hopper outlet may be adjustable by means of a pin- and-slot connection at 21 with the wall 18 of the hopper.
