[Class 18.] A carton adapted to be used as a display device of the type comprising a body with a shelf such as 30 substantially parallel to and spaced above the bottom extending partly across the body from one wall towards an opposite wall so as to leave a gap to give access to the contained articles, is provided with an upstanding display partition 31 at the end of the shelf which projects above the top of the box. The body is made from two blanks 12, 14, Fig. 3, secured together at 26, sections 16, 21 constituting the front wall, 15, 17, 23, 24 the side walls, 19 the back and 20 the base. The lap 26 is secured by staples or adhesives to one end of the side section 15, and a lap 25 to the side section 17, the sections 15, 17 carrying flanges 27, 28 inwardly directed in the erected box body. A shelf 30 and display flap 31 preferably integral therewith are arranged as shown in Fig. 1, a crease line 34 permitting the display flap to fold down level with the top. The box may be closed by a panel with its two ends turned down into the ends 16, 19 of the body. According to the Provisional Specification, the box body is made of two blanks, one consisting of an outer front wall and an outer end wall at either end, the other consisting of an inner front wall, a base and a rear wall in alignment, and two inner side walls hinged to the base, laps on the rear wall being attached to the outer end walls. The front wall is apertured and a third blank affixed by a lap, thus providing a shelf and a display flap. The rear wall may be apertured, or perforated and scored or otherwise weakened to permit a segment to be torn away to give access to contents. The shelf may be at the same height as the side walls. Cardboard, strawboard, sheet metal, &c. may be used for making the boxes.
