Abstract
<PICT:0392083/IV/1> Freshly spun filaments are led from the precipitating bath over a roller rotating in the direction of progress of the filaments and acting with sliding friction thereon, and are then led to the winding bobbin, the peripheral speed of which is less than that of the friction roller. The action of the friction roller enables the filaments to be wound at a lower tension than the stretching tension to which they are subjected between the nozzle and the friction roller. As shown in the drawing, the filaments pass from the precipitating bath 3 over tensioning rods, or friction rollers 4, 5 to a positively driven friction roller 1 which draws the filaments by sliding friction from the nozzle 2. The filaments then pass to a winding bobbin 6 rotating at a lower peripheral speed than the roller 1 and are wound at a comparatively low tension. The winding tension may be decreased by increasing the angle with which the filaments embrace the friction roller 1. Specification 300,953, [Class 2 (ii), Cellulose &c.], is referred to.
