Abstract
389,898. Light-current relays. DARWINS, Ltd. and BROWN, W., Fitzwilliam Works, Templeborough, Sheffield. Nov. 3, 1931, No. 30404. [Class 38 (v).] In a moving-coil relay or the like, a dust ring 18, Fig. 1, of non-magnetic material, is a sliding fit on the central polepiece 10 and is pressed, as by the spring 21, into contact with a surface of the outer polepiece 16, so preventing ingress of dust into the air gap 17. The dust ring may be provided with sealing material 26, Fig. 3. Alternatively the ring may be grooved to receive rings of sealing material, Fig. 2 (not shown). The ring may be formed of elastic material, e.g. rubber, which is held by being compressed between the outer polepiece and an abutment on the central polepiece, Fig. 4 (not shown). The axial length and internal diameter of the ring are great enough to avoid the moving coil touching it during operation.
