Abstract
389,164. Protective cut-out arrangements. PEEL, R. F. C., 69, South Drive, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Oct. 13, 1931, No. 28463. [Class 38 (v).] The three-phase system 2a, 2b, 2c is normally protected against inter-phase faults by means of impedance relays, the voltage or restraining windings 1a, 1b, 1c of which are permanently connected-to the secondary of a transformer 3 so as to be responsive to the interphase voltage. To 'enable the relays to protect also against earth faults, a relay 9 in the earth connection of the primary of transformer 3 is adapted'to connect the contacts 6a, 6b, 6c to the neutral of the secondary of transformer 3, whereby the windings 1a, 1b, 1c are energized by the phase-to-neutral voltage of the line without being disconnected from the system. Resistances 4a, 5c are for compensating for the differences in those voltages. Relay 9 may alternatively be fed from the line by parallelconnected current transformers Fig. 2 (not shown).
