389,149. Reinforced-concrete floors and blocks therefor. SMITH, W. H., The Cottage, Imber Court, East Molesey, Surrey. Sept. 11, 1931, No. 7071/32. Divided on 374,476. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] Relates to floor, ceiling, or roof construction involving the use of hollow preformed tiles or blocks spaced apart in rows with supportng beams in the spaces between, and comprises a constructon in which the blocks have rebated portions M formed in the top of the faces A which abut. The rebates increase in depth at the ends m. The supporting beams Q are usually of concrete, cast in situ, with reinforcement H therein. The rebated portions M of the blocks are filled with fine concrete, thereby establishing continuity in the concrete to transmit the compression stresses. Each block may be provided with two substantially triangular recesses C near the top at the sides, and inclined ribs F passing from the centre top to the sides at the bottom. Two larger recesses B of the form shown are separated by a vertical rib V. The sides of the blocks are provided with projecting lips D leaving a space between adjacent blocks which from the top downwards first decreases and then increases.
