[Class 135.] Valves closing after predetermined interval or flow. -A self-closing valve having a limited output comprises a lift valve 6 opened by a push 4 against the action of a spring 9. In opening, trapped liquid below a dashpot piston 5 is released by a subsidiary valve 13 at the openings 8. and the piston 5 is forced down in the cylinder 2. On release or the push, the spring 9, aided by fluid pressure, closes the openings 8 and forces the main valve 6 to its seat in a predetermined time, this being controlled by a throttle screw 12 which varies the time taken for liquid above the piston 5 to pass the screw into the space 2 below the piston. The dashpot cylinder 2 has a connecting passage to the fluid inlet, as shown.
