Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A valve for flushing water closets comprises a diaphragm 15 and a closing disc 25 moved away from a seat 17 by a solenoid 35 or other means against the action of springs 27, 28 to open a passage between an inlet 20 and an outlet 18. The diaphragm is moved by means of an opening disc 23 positioned in the outlet. Spring 27 acts on a collar 24 fixed to the stem 22 of this opening disc. On actuation of the solenoid, the disc 23 firstly closes aligned holes 30 in the first disc and the diaphragm to close a vent 30 between the outlet and the ambient pressure through a pipe 29, and then moves the diaphragm to open the outlet to the inlet. The diaphragm may alternatively be actuated by a manual or solenoid controlled pilot valve.
