[Class 74 (ii).] Circular machines.-In a rib knitting-machine holddown bits 45 of thin blade-like character are arranged in the same tricks as the rib needles 3 or their actuating sliders or jacks. The bit ends 45a are cranked to bring them midway between the needles, and are reciprocated in a direction opposite to the needles by a cam 49 situated below the needle cam 52.
