Abstract

385,048. Rotary pumps. LANGDON, A. G., 77, Derby Road, Northam, Southampton. Oct. 5, 1931, No. 27654. [Class 110 (ii).] A rotary, or semi-rotary, pump has a casing in which the bore is curved to give a substantially spherical or ellipsoidal chamber swept out by vanes 8 which slide radially in a slotted rotor 6. Packing of cork or other material 11 is inserted in grooves on the vanes. The rotor may be formed of gun-metal and cast with cored holes for lightening purposes. The vanes may have lightening holes drilled in them. Guides 9 are formed concentric with the inner casing wall to support the ends of the vanes. The pump may be of the semi-rotary type, and may be hand or power driven. A grease cap 16 is provided at one end of the shaft. A mounting bracket 20 is provided for supporting the pump structure.
