Abstract

382,537. Lids for cans &c. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. April 1, 1932, No. 9450. Convention date, April 1, 1931. [Class 125 (iii).] The developer in a developing tank is protected from the action of air by a float which covers the surface of the developer and is movably connected to the lid of the tank so that it may rest on the surface whatever the depth of the liquid in the tank. As shown, a float 15, as of wood, is suspended by non-corrodible chains 14, as of nickel, from a board 12 screwed to the lid 10, which is provided with a handle 9 secured to a bar 8 one end of which engages a hole in an arm 4 secured to a collar 2 on the tank 1, and the other end of which is adapted to be engaged by a clamping screw 7 pivoted at 6 to the collar 2. Between the board 12 and the lid 10 is interposed a rubber layer 11 which serves to seal the tank hermetically when the lid is clamped down. The invention is particularly useful in tanks for developing kinematograph films.
