Abstract

364,528. Bottle stoppers. WADSWORTH, H. E., 15, Brook Road, Fallowfield, Manchester. June 24, 1930, No. 19167. [Classes 125 (i) and 125 (iii).] A plug stopper for a bottle &c., of the kind comprising a plug part a furnished with a flange b capable of use as a drinking vessel &c., is characterized in that the plug part is of indiarubber and has formed integrally with it a handle part c, for convenient manipulation, the flange part, formed integrally with or separately from the plug part, being situated at one side of a plane transverse to the centre line of the stopper, and the handle part being situated wholly at the other side of such plane. The flange may be graduated by marks or flutes f, or by being formed as successive conical frustra of the same or progressively greater conicity, and the extreme portion of the flange h may be made flexible in order to lie against the sides of the bottle &c., to exclude dust, the whole flange being preferably sufficiently flexible to enable it to be turned inside-out for cleansing purposes. The plug portion is preferably contained within the volume of the flange portion representing the minimum quantity to be measured. The handle portion may be provided with flutes, Fig. 4, so that on placing it within the neck of the bottle &c. it may be used as a sprinkling device. The flange may, alternatively, be made of stiff material, e.g. glass or Bakelite, applied separately by friction &c. to the indiarubber plug, and may be shaped to represent an eye-bath &c.
