[Classes 92 (ii) and 119.] To enable the locking and unlocking movements of the breech-block 6 effected respectively by the engagement of control surfaces 36, 25 on the striker post 5 with corresponding surfaces 35, 26 on the breech-block to take place without vibration and consequent shock, guide means such as pins 42 on the barrel extension 2 engage suitably curved surfaces 43 on the sides of the breech-block. The curved surfaces 43 are shaped to provide a positive guiding means for the point 50<1> of the block along a path shown by the dotted line 50 as the block is rocked on the striker post to move its shoulder 16 into and out of locking engagement with the abutment 18<1>.
