Abstract

Ammonium magnesium phosphate is prepared by adding the theoretical quantity of finely ground calcined magnesia to a solution of monoammonium phosphate containing exactly six molecules of water per molecule of phosphoric acid, the mixture heating up to about 80 DEG C. and rapidly crystallizing. Alternatively dry monoammonium phosphate may be mixed with the theoretical quantity of calcined magnesia and the quantity of water just necessary for obtaining an ammonium magnesium phosphate containing six molecules of water for one molecule of phosphoric acid then added to the mixture. Specification 368,559 is referred to.ALSO:Ammonium magnesium phosphate fertilizers are prepared by adding the theoretical quantity of finely ground calcined magnesia to a solution of mono-ammonium phosphate containing exactly six molecules of water per molecule of phosphoric acid, the mixture heating up to about 80 DEG C. and being rapidly converted into crystallized ammonium magnesium phosphate. Alternatively dry mono-ammonium phosphate may be mixed with the theoretical quantity of calcined magnesia and the quantity of water just necessary for obtaining an ammonium magnesium phosphate containing six molecules p of water for one molecule of phosphoric acid then added to the mixture. Specification 368,559 is referred to.
