Convention date, June 10. [Class 144 (i).] The steering wheels on a tractor are constructed as shown in Fig. 3. In order to be able to increase the track of the rear wheels by various amounts, (1) the wheel hub 37, Fig. 12, is formed with a laterally-spaced conical bore 35 in addition to the normal bore 34, so that by reversing the wheel on the axle-shaft 39 and splined split bush 36 the wheel track is increased, and (2) an axle extension shaft 45, Fig. 11, is provided which is clamped on the old axle-shaft 39 by means of a split clamp. 46 and bolts 47, this axle 45 being supported by a bearing 40 in a housing 48 clamped at 49 to the axle-casing of the tractor. With this axle extension and the reversible wheel hub four different track widths may be obtained. The driving wheels have narrow channel-section rims 31, Fig. 8, riveted to flat spokes 32 permanently fixed to the hubs 37. The spuds 52 are wedge-shaped castings formed with an aperture 53 and a base shaped to the curvature of the wheel rim. Each spud is secured by a single bolt 54 and is formed with lugs 56 which overlap the wheel rim and prevent lateral movement of the spud.
