Abstract

377,563. Valve amplifying circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin.-(Assignees of Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges.; Siemensstadt, Berlin.) Jan. 11, 1982, No. 825. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1931. [Class 40 (v).] Distortion, due to non-linearity in the relation between input and output of a valve amplifier, is removed by combining the main output with the output of an auxiliary amplifier the input to which is suitably controlled. As shown in Fig. 4, applied to a push-pull amplifier V1, V2, the input is applied at K1, K2 to the valve grids, and the output load Z is coupled to the anode circuits by transformers Trl, Tr2 in the usual way. These transformers are also fed with current derived through a transformer Tr4 from the anode circuit of an auxiliary valve V4. The input to this valve is resistance-coupled to a valve V3 which has a complex input voltage. This is composed (1.) of a voltage Eg1, derived from the main input, (2) of a voltage Eg2 derived through a condenser Cl from a resistance or'impedance R in the anode circuit of the valve V4, and (3) of a voltage Eg3 derived from the anode current of the main valves V1, V2. The Specification shows by analysis that the load current J1 + J3, has a linear relation to the input voltage, despite non-linearity in the amplifier stage VI, V2, which may comprise a single valve instead of the push-pull pair shown. The Specification states that disturbing voltages or ripple are also eliminated. In a modification shown in Fig. 5, the load circuit Z is connected in series with the output transformers Trl, Tr2 of the main amplifier valve V1 and the auxiliary valve V4. The input voltage Eg1 is applied to the grid of the valve V1 through a coil W3, and to the grid of a valve V3 through a coil W2, the valve V3 being resistance-coupled to the auxiliary valve V4. The grid of the valve V3 also receives a voltage Eg2 through a condenser C1 from the output transformer of the valve V1, and a voltage Eg3 from a transformer Tr3 connected across a resistance R in the anode circuit of the auxiliary valve V4.
