Abstract
375,959. Back-rests. STATTERS, A. W., Clenair, Carr's Bank, Dunston-on- Tyne. May 26, 1931, No. 15403. [Class 52 (ii).] A foldable back-rest attachment for a chair comprises two separate pairs of rods 1, 2 so joined together that the rods of one pair may be folded one against the other independently of the rods of the other pair, the two pairs being formed with means, such as 7, 9, whereby they can be independently affixed to a backless seat, and a back supporting member 10 connected across said rods, the arrangement being such that, when removed from the seat, all of the rods can be laid close together to provide a compact bundle. In the drawings the rods 1, 2 are shown either hinged together as at 4, or having a spigot and socket connection 12, 16. According to the Provisional Specification the device may be permanently affixed to the seat, as by screws passed through the members 9.
