Abstract

375,682. Making rings for ball races &c. SCHLAA, F. I., 12A, Gerlingserweg, Iserlohn, Westphalia, Germany. Nov. 18, 1931, No. 32004. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1930. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] Rings for ball races or the like are made so as to ensure the fibres of the metal being axial and transverse to the ball groove and to form working surfaces free from decarburization. A disc a cut from a rod is first subjected to a pressing process to give the section shown in Fig. 3, this is said to force the fibres in the thick portion to lie in an axial direction ; the web d is then punched out and the remaining ring formed into an inner and outer race also by punching, the working surfaces being thus free from decarburization ; the desired diameter of these parts is subsequently obtained by rolling.
