Abstract

375,260. Feeding flat articles from piles. MANN & CO., Ltd., G., Ampton Street, Gray's Inn Road, London. Dec. 15, 1930, No. 37825. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 117.] Stiff sheets of metal, glass, cardboard, &c. are separated from pile 1 and fed to a printing, stamping or like machine by means of a conveyer 3 which is in the form of a grid chain and is passed over sprocket wheels 4 .. 7 and is moved around the pile 1 either continuously or intermittently. The grid chain 3 comprises three sets of parallel rods 9, and when one of these sets has passed a suction separator 11, the rear edge of the top sheet of the pile is sucked up to permit the next set of rods 9 to pass between the separated sheet and the top of the pile, and the rear edge of the sheet is engaged by stops 13 on the last rod 9 of the group. The edge of the sheet is moved up from the pile through a gap 10 which exists between the sets of rods 9.
