Abstract

374,661. Bowden mechanism. BAYLISS, WILEY, & CO., Ltd. and BAYLISS, C. T., Tyseley Works, Rushey Lane, Tyseley, Birmingham. July 10, 1931, No. 19844. [Class 80 (iii).] An adjustment for the sheath of a Bowden wire control device for motor cycles &c., adjacent to the operating-lever 3, comprises a sleeve 8 enlarged at 8a to receive the end of the sheath 2 and sliding in an open-sided slot in an extension 5a of the bracket 5 in which the lever is mounted. Rotation of the sleeve 8 is prevented by flats engaging the sides of the slot, and adjustment is effected by a nut 7 screwing on the sleeve and bearing against the bracket. To prevent fraying of the wire 1,. the nut 7 is free to rock on a rounded surface on the part 5a.
