Abstract

374,089. Cooling-towers. BALABAN, L., 2, Trabenerstrasse, Grunewald, Berlin. Jan. 22, 1931, No. 4565/32. Divided on 374,077 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 24, 1931. [Class 29.] The wall or shell 1 is built up of preformed concrete slabs 1a, Fig. 4, which are provided at one edge with a single flange 5a and at the other with a double flange 5c, 5d and a web 5b. The single flange fits into the recess between the double flange of the adjacent slab, the recess being filled with concrete reinforced by rods 24 so as to provide external ribs 5, Fig. 1, on the wall. At intervals the flanges 5d are broken off the slabs and the recess is filled with concrete to provide bracket-like ribs 5e, Fig. 5, and 10, Fig. 1, for supporting an external water trough D. The tower wall is provided with top and bottom rings 2, 3, and the trickling material comprises moulded concrete blocks supported on beams 14, 13 and stanchions 12.
