[Class 18.] In a case for cigarettes &c. or a refill for a case in which the cigarettes are fed by a spring- actuated feeding device towards a spring-controlled ejecting device, the feeding device consists of a rectangular ram with side and end surfaces contacting with the walls of the case or refill, the ram being moved towards the ejecting device by an elastic band. As shown in Fig. 1, the refill frame 2 is of sheet metal and has a folded portion 10 housing the spring- controlled ejector 19 which is actuated by a button 16 projecting through a slot 17 in the housing and the ram 4 is actuated by the endless rubber band 5 which passes across the top and down the ends of the ram and through slots 6 in the sides 7 of the frame ; the frame is fitted into a case having an opening for the issue of a cigarette 20 and a slot registering with the slot 17. In a modification the frame is made of cardboard with a sheet metal housing for the ejector attached thereto by turned-over tongues and the rubber band passes longitudinally of the frame around the ram, cigarette and ejector housing ; the case into which the frame is inserted is closed by an end flap having a slot registering with the slot in the ejector housing. A case 1, Fig. 5, for cigarettes has two internal U-shaped channel members 26, 27, between which the cigarettes are guided to the ejector 19 which is housed in a sleeve 8 attached to the base of the case by tongues 21. The elastic band 5 passes longitudinally of the case around the ram and sleeve 8 and is shown held by one of the flaps 28 of the case while the latter is opened for filling ; the member 27 is tapered towards its upper end so as to provide a space 24 for the band at each side of the case. The cigarettes may be provided with consecutive numerals visible in turn through an opening 29 in the case covered with transparent material. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a case having springs engaging depressions in the ends of the ejector housing to retain the refill frame in the case, the cigarettes being fed to the ejector by a zig-zag leaf spring provided at the bottom of the case. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
