Abstract
763,016. Cases for cigarette cartons. LUXTON, W. G. May 25, 1955 [May 26, 1954; Nov. 24, 1954], Nos. 15598/54 and 34116/54. Class 18. A case for a drawer- and-shell cigarette carton comprises an open ended sleeve 10 having an inwardly directed projection 14 at the open end for engaging the shell to retain it while the drawer is withdrawn. In one embodiment the lip 14 on a long edge engages the shell, notches 15 or a hole (not shown) below the lip being provided to facilitate removal of the carton. In other embodiments the lip is moveable clear of the sleeve mouth and may be carried on a pivoted member 42, or on a leaf spring, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) for bending outwardly. In a further embodiment, an entire side of the sleeve carrying the lip is pivoted to the remainder of the sleeve, Fig. 3 (not shown) and is held closed by spring clips.
