Convention date, Jan. 29, 1930. [Class 78 (i).] A device for conveying strip material or employing such material for the transmission of energy, comprising a plurality of movable elements interconnected for normally conjoint unidirectional movement in such a manner that some relative movement may arise therebetween, is characterized by non-driving damping means frictionally interposed between the movable elements and with the two frictional members of the damping means normally immovable relative thereto and to each other, to restrain the relative movement without substantially influencing the conjoint movement. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, 1 .. 4 are pulleys supporting a film strip 5, and a damping device provided between the pulleys 1, 4 comprises a lever 13 which is pivoted on the extension 7 bolted on the flange 8 of the pulley 4 and which has at one end a brake lining 18 bearing on the rim 28 of the pulley 1. At the other end the lever 13 is resiliently connected to the extension 7 by means of a rod 20 pivoted to the lever 13 by a pin 21 and provided with a spring 23.
