[Class 87 (ii).] A machine for dividing and working dough comprises a mould 62 mounted on a shaft 66<11> and adapted to close on to a table 22, the dough being divided within the mould by cutters on a head carried by a rack member 18 actuated by a toothed segment 17 on a shaft 15. The cutters operate through a pressing device 16 which moves with the cutters for the first part of the stroke, but which is then disengaged from the cutting device by the tripping of levers 30 carrying rollers 31 through which the pressure to the pressing device is transmitted. The table 22 is given an orbital motion to roll up and round the divided dough piece by cranks 8<1> on vertical spindles driven through skew gearing 6. The mould is locked in the closed position by a latch 72 which is tripped by a bolt 78 to allow the mould to open. The various movements are controlled automatically by a continuously rotating wheel 12 actuating the mould and the dividing device by slotted links 69, 13 to permit of lost motion. A slotted link 58 allows the mould to open without movement of the pressing and dividing devices till the link 59 reaches the end of the slot 60 in the link 58. This motion permits resetting of the connection between the pressure and dividing devices to take place. Stops 38, 39 on the wheel 12 control the clutch 10 for the drive of the table 22. The release of a weight 45 when the clutch is disengaged, returns the table 22 always to its original position. The main clutch 3 may be engaged by hand and disengaged automatically. The dividing and pressing devices may be controlled independ. ently by toothed segments actuating racks and driven by cams. The disengagement of the pressing device from the dividing device, is that form in which these members are actuated by a single rack, may be automatically effected on the dough being subjected to a predetermined pressure.
