Abstract
369,979. Roads ; paving blocks. SMALL, F. G., 2, Meadow Road, Pinner, Middlesex. Sept. 26, 1930, Nos. 28929/30 and 17831/31. [Classes 87 (i) and 107.] A triangular metallic tripedal block for road surfaces, factory floors, &c. is constructed with short feet or projections 2 at the corners to rest directly on the foundation which is covered with asphalt o r like plastic material extending between the feet of the block and between the juxtaposed blocks. The block, Figs. 4 and 5, may be solid, or hollow with integral ribs 5 having the same depth at the sides, and the surface of the block may be formed with projections 3 or the sides and webs may project upwardly to provide recesses to receive asphalt, wood or other road surface material. Insets 7 of plain or coloured glass &c. can be illuminated to provide direction signals or facilitate traffic control. The block is preferably formed with upwardly tapering sides, and may be generally curved to suit the camber of the road or of varying thickness to form a cambered road surface when laid on a flat foundation as shown in Fig. 13.
