Abstract
368,501. Igniting gas burners. MULLER, A., 373, Postschleissfach, Siegen, Westphalia, Germany. Feb. 20, 1931, No. 5338. [Class 75 (iii).] A catalytic igniter consisting of a pill 3 saturated with a platinum salt solution and held by platinum wires 4 in a frame 2 is provided in the lower end of a curved tube 1 arranged to receive gas issuing from the burner head 7. The tube 1 is preferably of substantially oval section, divided longitudinally into two separable parts, and wider at the upper inlet end than at the lower end. The tube 1 may be carried by a rod 9 fitted in a transverse bore in a sleeve 11 adjustable on a rod 10 rotatable in a bush 12 on a clip 5 on the burner tube 6. The sleeve 11 may be replaced by a ball joint.
