Abstract

367,541. Force-feed lubricators. TACKLIND, S. M. Z., 30, Kungsgatan, Stockholm. Feb. 2, 1931, No. 3287. Convention date, Sept. 13, 1930. [Class 12 (iii).] Apparatus for supplying lubricants, such as oils and fats, under pressure includes means which are especially adaptable as the low pressure part of a high pressure lubricator, but which may be used alone, such means comprising a feeding body 8 performing a rolling movement on the lubricant in a container 1, to force the lubricant through an annular sieve 5 and grooves 4 into ducts 2. The ducts 2 form the supply pipes of a number of reciprocating pumps (not shown) arranged around a driving shaft 3 and connected therewith through gear or worm wheels so as to operate in succession. The feeding body 8 is of double conical form and is freely mounted on an inclined shaft 16 having a bayonet connection 13 with the driving shaft 3, and has also a rolling connection with the base of the container by toothed gearing comprising pins 9 on the base meshing with pins 10 in a groove in the body 8. The upper spherical surface of the body 8 underlies a complementarily shaped ledge on an inserted member 6 so that as the shaft 3 rotates, the body 8 rolls over the lubricant in the compressing space, simultaneously having a backward movement relative thereto, due to the action of the toothed gearing 9, 10. In order to cut off portions of the lubricant in the container and feed them through the crescent-shaped space into the compressing space, the shaft 16 carries a curved sickle-shaped vane 12 sharpened on its leading edge. The vane extends above a conical ledge 19 contiguous with the upper surface of the member 6. The inclined shaft 16 also carries beneath the securing nut 15 a scraper 18 to remove lubricant from the upper surface of the feeding body 8. A space is left between the lower surface of the body 8 and the base of the container to avoid damage due to the presence of hard bodies. The annular sieve 5 is carried on the inserted member 6 and prevents air bubbles reaching the high pressure pumps.
