Abstract

366,946. Motors. SANGAMO ELECTRIC CO., Springfield, Illinois, U.S.A. Aug. 8, 1930, No. 23827. Convention date, June 2. [Class 35.] Rotary machines.-A synchronous motor suitable for driving clocks &c. comprises a stator consisting of two concentric pieces having projections to form a series of flux gaps and an energizing coil and a permanent magnet rotor ; alternatively the permanent magnet may act as stator. In the form shown the stator consists of a cup-shaped piece 1 and a disc 4 connected by a core 8 and enclosing a coil 2. The piece 1 and disc 4 are furnished with teeth 7, 5 forming a number of air gaps over which pass the turned-over ends 40 of the permanent magnet rotor 38; other arrangements of the teeth on the disc 4 are also described, e.g. they may be turned over so as to be parallel to the teeth 7. In a modification the magnet 38 is formed with a number of arms forming alternate poles.
