Abstract

366,879. Winding yarn on cops &c. MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWEITER AKT.- GES., Horgen, Switzerland. Sept. 3, 1931, No. 24784. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1930. [Class 120 (ii).] In cop-winding apparatus having a thread guide adjustable on a reciprocating camactuated rod and advanced by a friction wheel or feeler adjustable on a screw, the feeler and screw are carried by a rocking carrier moved, during movement of the feeler, to shift a lever which reciprocates the thread guide rod and vary its point of engagement with an actuating lever rocked by the cam. A heart-shaped cam groove 11 in the face of a continuously rotating disc 2 engages a pin 9 on a lever 8 pivoted at one end to a boss 6 on a casing 1. The lever is of U-section to engage the end 17 of a lever 16 slidably mounted on a shaft 12, the rotation which it controls by means of a rod 15 passing through it and secured at its ends to arms 13, 14 keyed to the shaft. The arm 14 forms part of a bell-crank lever the longer arm 14<1> of which reciprocates a guide rod 20 carrying the thread guide 43 and the amplitude of the movement is determined by the position of the end 17 of the lever 16 in the lever 8. This is controlled by an arm 21 engaging a notch 22 in the lever 16 and keyed at its other end to a shaft 24 on which are also keyed arms 25, 26 of a rocking carrier. Slidably mounted in the arms 25, 26 is a screwed rod 27 adapted to be reciprocated, over a small distance, in the opposite sense to the guide rod 20, by a rod 30 secured to it by a quadrant 29 pivoted on the shaft 24 and engaging a slot in the screwed rod, the rod 30 being actuated through a tappet 31 by a cam &c. 34 integral with the disc 2. A friction wheel 36 having a smooth bore is operatively connected to the screwed rod 27 by a tongue 39 engaging the thread thereon and when the reciprocation thereof brings the wheel into contact with the cop being wound, the wheel is rotated and traversed along the rod. This movement brings the tongue 39 into the cored end of a sleeve 49 and the wheel 36 displaces the sleeve and a bracket 40 secured to it and movable along the shaft 24. Thereupon, a lug 42 on the bracket 40 encounters the thread guide 43 and displaces it along the rod 20. Simultaneously, a roller 45 on an arm 44 on the bracket 40 rolls along a templet 46 and the shape of the templet, by determining the position of the carrier comprising the screwed rod 27, arms 25, 26 and shaft 24, determines the position of the lever 16 relatively to the lever 8 and the amplitude of the reciprocation of the guide rod 20. Different shapes of templets are used to obtain different forms of packages.
