Abstract
365,454. Cleaning windows. ATLASWERKE AKT.-GES., 16, Stephanikirchenweide, Bremen, Germany. May 8, 1931, No. 13714. Convention date, July 30, 1930. [Class 138 (i).] Means for cleaning the outside of vertically-movable sash windows is such that on the lowering of the window the surface to be cleaned frictionally engages a cleansing device which is inoperative while the window is being raised. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, a roller 3 covered with rubber, leather, or like material, is carried by a spindle 6 which at each end engages a slot 5 constructed so that its width increases in the direction towards the window 7. Upon the downward movement of the window it is cleaned by the roller 3, while upward movement renders the roller inoperative. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, a cleaning surface 9 is carried by a bar 8 connected to a lever 11 which is raised by hand to press the surface 9 against the window at the same time as the window is being lowered. On release the lever 11 drops by gravity so that the cleaning surface 9 is practically out of contact with the window.
