[Class 74 (i).] A multi-feed rib knitting-machine having means for supplying a plurality of yarns to the needles of all sets is provided with tricked selector wheels (or " skip operators ") acting on one set of needles and with pattern mechanism for varying the selection of the other set. Latch needles sliding in stationary beds and controlled by jacquard type pattern mechanism 9 are employed. Levers 11, one for each cylinder needle or small group thereof are actuated, when pins 12 find perforations in the pattern bands 10, to engage the needle jacks 13. A cam 14 raises, at each feed, the inner ends of all the levers 11 and so passes the selected needles to positions at which they may take yarn at that feed. Each feed also includes a trick wheel 20 for operating on dial needles. The movements of the rib needles are preferably completed by cams 25, 26, 27, 29. By turning a member 28 the cam 29 is rendered inoperative and a cam 30 is brought into action whereby all the dial needles can be kept out of yam receiving position at this feed. A eam 35 can act to nullify the selective action of the wheel 20. When fancy effects are being knitted the stitch cam 42 is in action. When plain ribbed work is being done an extra cam 40 is brought into use. The various movable cams may be operated by pattern controlled bob-pins which act on pairs of arms such as 49, 50 and 59, 60, Fig. 1 (not shown). A cam 75 projects, the dial needles sufficiently far to open their latches in advance of each feed. The trick wheels may be applied to the cylinder needles and the jacquard device to the dial needles.
