[Class 81 (ii).] A hair-waving comb comprises a plurality of stiff teeth between each pair of which is disposed a resilient member which presses against, or lies in close proximity to, the adjacent side of at least one of each pair. The resilient members and/or the stiff teeth may be electrified, e.g. they may be connected alternately with the opposite poles of an electric battery or other source of electric supply, which, in the case of a battery, may be mounted on the back of the comb. The comb is formed from a sheet-metal blank, Fig. 5, comprising two parallel half-back portions a, a united by pairs of half teeth b, b, the halves of each pair being formed in one piece. Alternate halves of the pairs of half-teeth b, b are formed with lateral extensions c, d whilst the half-back portions a, a are formed, opposite the roots of these half-teeth having extensions, with pairs of longitudinal slots e, e. During manufacture, the extensions d are bent over and recurved as shown in Fig. 3, which is a section on the line 3-3, Fig. 1. A number of lengths of springy strip or wire f, g, Figs. 1 and 3, bent to hairpin form, are each secured to the half-backs a, a by passing the end of the leg f through a pair of slots e, e, the leg f passing along the adjacent half-tooth b behind the bent over extension d and being further secured by bending over the extension c. The blank is folded about its median line, the wires f, g being housed between the halves of the teeth, the unsecured legs g lying in, and pressing resiliently against, the bottom of the grooves h formed by the secured portions of the adjacent extensions d.
