Abstract

274,560. Lloyd, S. C., Harlow, P. L., and Metropolitan-Vicker Electrical Co., Ltd. April 21, 1926. Resistance grids.-In an electric resistance formed of a slotted plate, flattened helix, or folded strip the bars of which are splayed outward centrally and held in position by a toothed insulated support,'the supports are not threaded through the grid as described in Specification 232,496, but applied in two parts from the sides so as to force the bars apart. In the arrangement shown in Fig 3, the supports 3 which are held together by bolts 6, are all, except the two end ones, of the same shape, and the teeth of each enter the spaces of the next, gripping the bars of the grid 4. The ends of the bars are twisted, as shown on the right hand of the figure, to stiffen the grid and increase the spaces between the bars. Each support may be flat on one side and toothed on the other, two supports being placed between each pair of grids. Fig. 14. shows the invention applied to a folded strip 15, the folds entering slots 16 in the supports and being displaced parallel to their own planes.
