363,177. Hinges for boxes. PARTIOT, M., 17, Rue Albert Joly, Versailles, France. Jan. 16, 1931, No. 1529. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1930. [Class 65 (ii )] The lid 2 of a sheet-metal box, designed to avoid any manufacturing operations after assembly, has one edge 9 bent to a semicircular section and the ends of this edge are undercut to form projecting hinge pins. The box 1 has two knuckles 5, 6 pressed out to receive the pins, and the part 4 between the knuckles is depressed to clear the edge 9 of the lid ; one knuckle 5 is longer than the other, and has a slit 11 in its lower side. The lid is attached to the box by placing one of the projecting pins in the knuckle 5 so that the edge of the metal adjacent to the pin enters the slot 11, as shown, and then moving the other pin into line with the other knuckle 6 and sliding the lid along. Other methods of assembly are described. The pins may be formed of a wire embraced by the edge 9 of the lid.
