362,752. Protectors for boot uppers. ANDREWS, L. and GUTTA PERCHA & RUBBER (LONDON), Ltd., 30, Bolsover Street, London. Feb. 2, 1931, No. 3274. [Class 17 (ii).] To prevent damage to footwear of motor cyclists :from the kick starter, a pad a, Fig. 1, of indiarubber formed with a patterned surface, and preferably reinforced with canvas or metal or both, is shaped to fit under the waist of the boot and up over the corresponding inside portion thereof. The pad may be incorporated in, or permanently attached to, the footwear, especially indiarubber footwear. Alternatively, the pad may be detachably secured over the footwear by a strap b<1> which is moulded into the pad between its inner canvas lining and the inner rubber body, one end of the strap being provided with a buckle and the other portion being long enough to pass round the leg before being connected to the buckle. Lacing or elastic bands or straps may be used instead of a strap and buckle.
