Abstract

Fastening; buckles and like, attaching.-The in. step strap of a Court or like type of shoe is rendered expansible by the provision in it of a buckle or slide combined with elastic means connected in a readily detachable manner to the edges of the upper. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a buckle 1 is provided on its rear face with a tube 3, which may be of spirally wound wire, through which is threaded an endless rubber hand 2 which is also threaded through loops 5, Fig. 1, on the upper and finally secured by hooks 4 on the buckle. In a modification, Fig. 5, the slide comprises a plate 1<a> having a cover 1<b> and formed with apertures 7, 8. The rubbe band 2 is threaded through the apertures and through loops on bar sections 5 of the upper, and its ends are connected detachably by a ring 9. In another modification, Fig. 6, the slide 1<c> is formed with hooks 10, 11 which secure the rubber band 2 after it has passed through the loops 5.
