[Classes 12 (i) and 103 (i).] In concentric-tube controls suitable for use on motor vehicles for example, a suitable degree of friction between contiguous tubes is obtained by forming each of them with a helical groove and protuberance 16, 16<1>, 17, 17<1>. To prevent binding, the pitch of the helix 17 is different from that of the helix 16. In another form a middle tube engages plain inner and outer tubes and is formed with an inwardly extending groove and an outer ridge.
