Abstract
359,990. Furnace electrodes. SIEMENS-PLANIAWERKE AKT.-GES. FR KOHLEFABRIKATE, 128, Herzbergstrasse, Lichtenberg, Berlin. May 28, 1930, No. 16521. Convention date, Nov. 23, 1929. [Class 39 (iii).] Furnace electrodes are made by pouring powdered or ground coal or semi-coke into a container and heating it therein until it is completely coked. The mixture may be subjected to pressure, while still in the plastic state, by means of a weight placed thereon. Coarser pieces of coal or semi-coke, graphite, pitch, asphalt, bitumen, or resin may be added to the mixture. The container may be agitated to ensure a uniform density. The coal dust may be moistened with a small quantity of tar. The process may be employed in making " self-baking " electrodes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 12434/00, [Class 39, Electric lamps &c.], 251,982, and 308,750, [both in Class 39 (iii), Heating by electricity].
